Privacy.

SMEnode is a Canadian IT and AI consulting practice based in Toronto, Ontario. This policy explains what personal information we collect through smenode.com, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

In short: we collect what you choose to send us through the contact and assessment forms, plus aggregate usage statistics through Google Analytics so we can see which pages and tools get used. We don't sell your data, we don't run advertising trackers, and we don't build profiles on you.

We collect the information you choose to give us when you submit the contact form:

We use your contact details for one purpose: to read your enquiry, reply to you, and follow up about the work you're asking about. That's it. We don't use your information for advertising, and we don't sell or rent it to anyone.

If you complete the readiness assessment on this site, we collect your name and email solely to send you the result and follow up about it. Nothing else, and no mailing list. You're not subscribed to anything by submitting the assessment.

When you submit the contact form, you consent to us using the details you provide to respond to you. You can withdraw that consent at any time by emailing info@smenode.com, and we'll stop using your information and delete it where we're able to, subject to any records we're required to keep.

We don't share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers. The site itself runs on server infrastructure we operate ourselves. We do rely on a small set of service providers:

Some of our providers operate in the United States. Messages you send through the forms are delivered by Resend, usage statistics are processed by Google, error reports go to Sentry, and site traffic passes through Cloudflare's global network. While information is in the United States, it may be accessible to US authorities under US law. Each provider processes data under its own terms and safeguards. If you'd prefer not to have your information processed outside Canada, email us directly at info@smenode.com instead of using the forms.

We keep contact-form messages only as long as we need them to handle your enquiry and any engagement that follows. We review held messages periodically and delete what we no longer need. You can ask us to delete your information sooner by emailing info@smenode.com.

Under PIPEDA you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to correct it if it's wrong, and to withdraw your consent or ask us to delete it. To exercise any of these rights, email info@smenode.com and we'll respond within a reasonable time.

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand, in aggregate, how the site gets used: which pages get read, which services and assessments draw interest, and roughly where visitors come from. To do this, Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (names starting with _ga) so that repeat visits count as one visitor instead of several.

We keep analytics narrow on purpose: no advertising cookies, no remarketing audiences, and no cross-site tracking profiles. We don't send Google any names, email addresses, or account identifiers, and we don't sell analytics data.

You can opt out by blocking analytics cookies in your browser or using a content blocker; every part of the site works without them. Beyond analytics, the site sets only what it strictly needs to run.

We serve the whole site over HTTPS, enforce a strict Content Security Policy, and limit access to your information on a need-to-know basis. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so while we work to protect your information, we can't guarantee absolute security.
